Ok so I have been working fairly diligently to work the One Act into a full length play after the wonderful response from the audiences that came to the production last January. And with Royal Family making it possible I am happy to say that the first fruits are happening Monday, December 3rd at a reading at Symphony Space. Thank you Royal Family for giving legs to this show.
Royal Family Productions presents:
a benefit reading of Don Pedro de la Cebolla, a new comedy about dreaming big by Matthew Harrington, directed by Rachael Harrington.
Ticket sales will provide essential opportunities for new directors to establish their voices by benefiting Royal Family Production’s Emerging Directors Program, through which Don Pedro de la Cebolla was originally produced as a play in one act.
December 3, 2012 at 8pm.
Symphony Space 2537 Broadway.
$10 tickets at the door, online ticketing option coming soon.
Don Pedro de la Cebolla, the illegitimate son of the late King of Feotidus, must be removed before he stumbles upon a legitimate claim to the throne. How better to do this than to send him to the remote village of Piedra de las Rocas in search of five hearty companions to assist him on an impossible quest for trade, conquest, riches, and certain glory? He arrives to find a population not terribly gifted in the arts of adventurism. Ever the optimist and dreamer, Don Pedro plunges forward with his quest. That is, until the villagers discover the alarming truth; somebody at the Royal Palace wishes to ensure that Don Pedro is “irrevocably separated from the State”. Now the “wise” men must, by their own ham-fisted methods, determine the fate of Don Pedro de la Cebolla and their own.
