"The Edge of a Full Circle", a play in one act
Synopsis
Locale: A cozy middle-class home in a small village somewhere between London and Wolverhampton, England.
Is Jesus really from Wolverhampton or could he be from somewhere else? James and his wife Laura ponder this question, among others, after James returns from an early morning where-in he had an unusual encounter with a man named Jesus. However, the distance between the soul and the edge of the full circle is very narrow.
"The Flower of Daphmyra", a play in two acts
Synopsis
What is so wrong with creating a life that rewards both oneself and a select number of wealthy, ego-sensitive socialites? Nothing, if you ask Slotimer V. Victor, Esq. and his pal Ernest Thaleston, CPA; plenty, if you ask the Internal Revenue Service.
The plan was simple--create a few fictitious wild-life preserves, claim some tax write offs for the client, take your percentage in fees. Who gets hurt?
Slotimer and Ernest find themselves in a terrible jam as an IRS agent has decided to bite into them with a bulldog-like grip while at the same time their most delicate client, Mrs. Daphmyer, must defend her social position by producing something tangible from the island wildlife preserve created in her honor. Faced with having to prove the existence of this island or possibly spend the rest of their lives in Federal prison, they turn to that most reliable legal institutions- the expert witness, who may indeed prove many things to be true after all.
With a tip of the hat to Kaufman, Hart, and the Marx Brothers, "The Flower of Daphmyra" is a romp through the world of lawyers, auditors, temporary employees, and expert witnesses. Who could have ever imagined that a tax audit could be so much fun?
